Current project
Currently we are partnering with the Lower Mainland Purpose Society (http://www.purposesociety.org/index.html) to help youth (aged 16-19) make a successful transition to independence. In creating this partnership we realized that there was a need in the existing services being provided for at-risk youth. It was the need to have a stable housing environment while the youth acquired the skills to become successfully independent when the youth programs ended at age 19. These needs varied from completing education, to basic budgeting, and so on. Without a successful transition, people are susceptible to ending up on or back on the streets.
The Agape Home offers youth a communal living environment where they share 2 bathrooms, one kitchen and a living room. The house has a live-in house coach who is on site nightly from midnight to 7am and facilitates one evening weekly where residents can have visitors. |
